Job Description: Job Description Airport Electrician Specialist - Licensed Unrestricted (High Voltage)General Description and Classification Standards Employee performs highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshootingwork involved with electrical systems. Electrical work may be performed in a number ofareas including runways, taxiways, and security gates. Work involves technicalapplication of electrical principles. This is a fully seasoned skilled level capable ofindependently carrying out most assignments typical of the discipline. This level wouldbe attainable by multiple incumbents in a work group (not necessarily by all) but wouldnot be an "automatic" promotional level. Supervision Received Works under very general supervision. May work independently or with other skilled orsemi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed asexclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Maintains runway and taxiway lights; troubleshoots to identify the problem andrepair as needed. Inspect and make repairs to taxiway lights and signs that are poweredby 2400 volts and current transformers. Performs emergency repairs to runway lights and signs when required. Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery. Constructs and maintains service equipment. Reads electrical circuit diagrams. Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment. Requisitions material and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discussneeds for parts and supplies and recommends purchases and suppliers. Transfers primary power from one power source to another. Sets poles, strings overhead lines and does overhead line maintenance. Supervises other regular employees during a minor portion of the employee'swork time; duties include assigning and reviewing work
