About the role
- Coordinate and dispatch trucks to deliver concrete to the appropriate molds and production bays.
- Text and call trucking companies throughout the day to determine which bays to pour and to adjust schedules as needed.
- Maintain efficient rotations of concrete delivery to keep builders busy and minimize downtime.
- Calculate average daily pour rates to improve efficiency and optimize workflow as jobs progress.
- Determine the yardage of concrete required for each mold and assign trucks accordingly, using basic math to plan pours.
- Communicate with concrete suppliers to request moisture adjustments based on pour results and quality feedback.
- Assist with operating color mixers by loading bags into hoppers and supporting the mixing process.
- Lead and communicate with truck drivers and builders to align priorities and resolve issues in real time.
- Perform data entry related to dispatch, deliveries, inventory, and scheduling.
- Help schedule deliveries and appointments to ensure timely truck arrivals and material availability.
- Support machine operation and basic maintenance tasks as needed to keep equipment running smoothly.
- Provide responsive service and customer-focused communication to internal teams and external partners.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements at all times.
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when servicing or working near equipment.
- Identify and report safety hazards, equipment deficiencies, and operational risks to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lift, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance as part of daily tasks.
- Stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on feet for extended periods while moving around the facility.
- Work in conditions that may include dust, noise, vibration, temperature changes, and occasional outdoor exposure.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.
- Essential skills include:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with truckers, builders, and concrete suppliers.
- Excellent organization skills to manage multiple trucks, bays, and pour schedules simultaneously.
- Dispatch and logistics experience or aptitude, including coordinating deliveries and driver schedules.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, scheduling, and communication.
- Ability to perform basic math to calculate concrete yardage and average daily pour rates.
- Hi-energy level to continuously talk, walk, and move around the facility during the shift.
- Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on feet for extended periods.
- Comfort working in dusty, noisy, and non-climate-controlled manufacturing conditions.
- Commitment to safety, including following OSHA requirements and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.
- Additional skills and qualifications include:
- Previous dispatch or materials coordinator experience is highly beneficial.
- Experience in concrete, precast, or a similar industrial or manufacturing environment is a strong plus.
- A truck driver or concrete pourer with the right skills and attitude can translate well to this role.
- Exposure to machine operation and quality control processes in a production setting.
- Customer service experience related to truck delivery, dispatched drivers, or service coordination.
- Experience with data entry, scheduling appointments, and managing inventory.
- Interest or experience suitable for an entry-level production lead or supervisor pathway.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to support machine operating and maintenance activities.
