The successful candidate will be a key player in the creation and release of music, leading and overseeing all business and legal aspects of the process. This includes negotiating and drafting a variety of music and entertainment-related agreements, advising and supporting various departments on contractual and legal obligations, and providing counseling and policy guidance on the label's business activities. The role also involves investigating and responding to claims and disputes, as well as leading, mentoring, and managing a team of legal professionals. Applicants for the SVP, Business & Legal Affairs position at the company should be incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about music, with a J.D. from a top law school and at least 12 years' of post-bar experience, including extensive experience in a major record label business and legal affairs department or similar senior executive role. The ideal candidate will have outstanding negotiating, drafting, organizational, and communication skills, and a proven track record of working independently in a team-oriented environment. Strong business and financial knowledge, as well as an in-depth understanding of the legal areas applicable to the music business, are highly valued.
