About the role
Responsibilities:
Join our Leadership Team at Southwest Healthcare System as a Director of Laboratory! SWHS consists of two acute‑care hospitals: Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, CA and Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, CA.Employee may be required to float to the other facility within Southwest Health based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation and competency validation provided. Essential Job DutiesThe Director of Laboratory is responsible for the overall management of the assigned laboratory department in an efficient, economic, and quality manner. Supervises, coordinates, and participates in activities of staff performing chemical, hematological, microscopic and bacteriological tests of body fluids, exudates, and skin scrapings to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines. Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times. Demonstrates strong leadership, organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, and to interact well with the public. Has knowledge of PC and applications. Maintains a high level of technical knowledge demonstrating expert knowledge of lab tests and their clinical significance. Manages time effectively to complete projects.
Qualifications:
Five (5) to Seven (7) years of clinical experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required. Minimum three (3) years leadership experience as a CLS or in a related field required; acute‑care experience preferred. Minimum essential education: Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the State of California required.
