About the role

Waste Technician As part of the Base Operations team, the Waste Technician manages waste stream and recycling operations across all five base areas at The Summit at Snoqualmie, including specialized recycling service for Dru Bru. Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, this role operates waste collection vehicles and equipment while ensuring proper sorting, disposal, and regulatory compliance. The position exists to protect the mountain environment, keep waste operations running smoothly across multiple locations, and support a clean, safe guest experience. Success looks like reliable, compliant collection routes, well-maintained equipment, and consistent environmental stewardship across the resort.
Responsibilities: Support sustainability initiatives through proper recycling, waste reduction practices, and continuous improvement efforts. Maintain inventory of waste management supplies and equipment. Travel between all five base areas to collect waste from designated collection points on schedule. Sort and process recyclable and compostable materials to maximize environmental impact and maintain compliance. Safely operate waste collection vehicles, compactors, and related machinery. Perform routine equipment checks and maintain operational readiness of waste collection equipment. Monitor waste receptacle capacity and proactively schedule collections to prevent overflow. Maintain cleanliness and organization of waste collection areas and dumpster locations. Coordinate with the EVS team and other departments to address specialized waste disposal needs and keep indoor and outdoor waste receptacles from overflowing. Implement proper waste disposal procedures according to facility guidelines and regulatory requirements. Record waste collection activities and promptly report equipment issues or safety concerns to management. Assist the Base Operations team on heavy snow days, and address slip and trip hazards you encounter with a shovel or sand. We are one team, working together to create the best guest experience possible. Support workplace safety programs and always follow safety-conscious practices. Responsibly manage departmental keys and follow building security procedures.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Willingness to learn specialized heavy equipment operation and follow strict safety protocols. Clear verbal and written communication skills in English for coordination and compliance reporting. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision across multiple locations. Strong attention to detail for proper waste sorting and disposal procedures. Previous experience in waste management, recycling operations, or equipment operation. The wage range for this position is: from $24.00 to $26.00/hr. This is a non-benefited role. All individuals may contribute to the 401(k). An employee must work 1,000 hours in a calendar year to qualify for the discretionary match (there is a 2 year vesting cliff). All individuals accrue sick time at 1 hour per 40 hours worked to a maximum of 64 hours per year.
