About the role

Join a leader in rugged embedded computing as the primary BIOS/UEFI specialist supporting next-generation military, aerospace, industrial, and high-reliability platforms. You will customize and develop UEFI BIOS from AMI and Intel reference code, partner closely with hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software teams, and guide new boards from initial bring-up through production.
Responsibilities: Develop and customize UEFI BIOS for new rugged embedded computing products using AMI and Intel reference BIOS code. Perform BIOS bring-up on newly designed boards and support platform initialization through early hardware startup. Debug low-level hardware, firmware, and BIOS integration issues involving registers, memory, peripherals, and board-level interfaces. Collaborate closely with hardware, FPGA, IPMC, firmware, and software engineers to validate system functionality. Support and validate board-level interfaces including USB, PCI Express, SATA, and related platform functionality. Adapt and port BIOS software to new hardware designs. Drive BIOS development from initial bring-up through product release, production, and, as needed, sustaining activities. Communicate technical issues, root causes, and solutions clearly across engineering disciplines. Provide strong technical ownership and engineering judgment as the Huntsville organization’s key BIOS/UEFI technical specialist.
Requirements: 5+ years of hands-on BIOS development experience; exceptional candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered. Strong hands-on experience developing modern UEFI BIOS; legacy BIOS exposure alone is not sufficient. Demonstrated experience personally developing BIOS that ran on hardware you helped bring up. Experience performing BIOS bring-up on newly designed hardware. Strong proficiency in C programming. Ability to perform low-level programming involving registers, memory, peripherals, and platform initialization. Experience customizing, porting, or adapting BIOS for new hardware. Strong understanding of computer architecture and hardware/firmware interaction. Experience troubleshooting hardware and firmware integration issues during board bring-up. Experience with Intel/x 86/x 86-64 platforms and Intel reference BIOS is highly valuable. Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while partnering closely with hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software engineering teams. Ability to work full-time on-site.
Benefits: Competitive base salary range of $150,000 to $190,000 per year. Relocation assistance. Minimal travel requirements. Meaningful technical ownership of BIOS/UEFI development for new embedded computing products. Opportunity to work across hardware, firmware, FPGA, BIOS, and operating-system-level platform development. Collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation, technical impact, and professional growth.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
