About the role
Position: Collections Database Manager Reports To: Deputy Director and Director of Exhibits and Collection Direct Report: None This position will be part-time, benefits ineligible, not to exceed 24 hours per week. This is a temporary position, not to exceed three years. Position Summary The Collections Database Manager will work on the grant-funded Collections Data Migration and Improvement Project, an initiative to migrate the Museum’s collections data from its old database to a new one. The Collections Database Manager will migrate the data and refine it to ensure that the new database is being used to its full capacity. The Collections Database Manager will also connect collections images to records in the new database and will create new images through scanning or photography where needed. The Collections Database Manager will provide weekly and quarterly metrics on the project’s progress and will assist the Director of Exhibits and Collections in presenting the results of the project. Qualifications • Master’s degree in Museum Studies or relevant subject area • Minimum 2 years of experience in registration and collections management work • Working knowledge in museum management principles and practices; general administrative principles, practices, and methods • Experience in archival scanning and object photography• Experience with TMS collections database strongly preferred• Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills • Strong knowledge of museum legal and ethical issues • Proven ability to forge mutually respectful, trusting, and effective relationships with a diverse group of staff, Board members, community leaders, and decision makers • Outstanding oral and written communication skills • Ability to maintain balance and perspective and a proactive “can do” attitude that can motivate others Send cover letter and resume to:
