About the role
About The Role:
CV Engineering is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our project management team and lead procurement activities for major industrial capital projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to take a procurement package from bidder development through negotiation, award, expediting, and delivery. You will have direct ownership of assigned packages and play an important role in keeping project costs, schedules, and construction activities on track. Our projects involve a wide range of equipment, materials, fabricated components, installation services, and international suppliers. You'll work directly with project engineering, construction, vendors, and client representatives, with commercial judgment and problem-solving that direct impact on project cost, schedule, and execution. This is not a purchasing administration role. We're looking for someone who has independently run procurement packages on industrial capital projects and is comfortable owning the commercial process from beginning to end.
What You'll Do:
Lead assigned procurement packages from initial sourcing through award, delivery, and closeout.
Develop bidder lists and issue requests for quotation in accordance with established project procedures.
Coordinate technical bid evaluations with project engineers and prepare commercial evaluations and bid comparisons.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery requirements, and commercial terms with vendors.
Prepare clear award recommendations for client review and approval.
Assemble purchase order and award packages for client approval and issuance.
Manage procurement-related changes and commercial adjustments throughout the project.
Maintain accurate procurement and controls information, including budgets, awarded values, vendors, contract information, schedule status, delivery status, and required dates.
Prepare weekly procurement reporting and proactively communicate cost, schedule, and delivery risks.
Expedite awarded packages and work directly with vendors to keep documents, milestones, manufacturing, and deliveries on schedule.
Track international shipments through freight forwarding, ports, customs, and delivery to the project site.
Coordinate freight approaches for overseas packages.
Manage smaller procurement requirements that can otherwise become schedule constraints, including components, materials, instruments, valves, refractory, fabricated items, and other site needs.
Coordinate installation contractors and local fabricators when required.
Maintain complete and organized procurement documentation in the project SharePoint environment.
Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned vendors while coordinating technical questions through the appropriate project personnel.
Visit project sites and vendor facilities as needed for expediting, inspections, and procurement coordination.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications:5+ years of procurement experience supporting industrial capital projects, such as steel, metals, mining, process plants, or other heavy industrial facilities.
Experience independently managing packages from bidder development and RFQ through bid evaluation, negotiation, award, and delivery.
Experience with equipment, construction materials, fabricated components, installation services, and other project-related procurement.
Experience expediting vendors and managing international shipments, including freight forwarding and customs.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to maintain accurate procurement registers and project data.
Strong commercial, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to prepare clear, concise recommendations that allow a client or project decision-maker to understand the options, costs, risks, and recommended path forward.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, construction personnel, vendors, and client representatives.
Ability to manage multiple procurement packages simultaneously and proactively address issues before they affect project cost or schedule.
Ability to work on an active industrial construction site when required.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Aconex or a similar project document or bid management platform.
Experience with furnace, refractory, metals processing, or other industrial process equipment.
Ability to read Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project schedules and understand how procurement dates affect the overall project schedule.
Experience working for an owner, EPC, EPCM, or owner's representative organization.
Experience with an ERP purchasing or procurement module.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
What You Can ExpectThis position is based in our Pittsburgh office with travel to project sites and vendor facilities as project needs require. The role supports major industrial capital projects and offers the opportunity to work directly across project management, engineering, construction, vendors, and client teams. Because our projects involve international vendors and suppliers, occasional early morning or evening calls may be necessary to coordinate across time zones. All project work is performed using company-provided equipment, and client information and project data must be accessed and stored only on authorized company equipment and systems.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
