About the role

Kids' Canvas is a Reggio-based early childhood educational environment for children ages 0-5. We use art, music, theater, movement, science, and nature as tools for creative discovery and learning. Our curriculum encourages children’s natural need to play, create, and socialize and provides them with a warm and nurturing environment to express themselves. We like to follow the lead of our students and give them the freedom to explore their physical and imaginative worlds, while working alongside them. Our Core Values are: Communication, Attitude, Collaboration, Community, and CaringThe Head of School is a full-time, on-site leadership role responsible for overseeing the school’s curriculum, day-to-day operations, and admissions. The Head of School will manage day-to-day activities such as: scheduling staff and studentscommunication with familiesensure compliance with DOH regulations Oversee classrooms This role includes:managing staff: conducting regular performance reviews, providing mentorshiprecruiting, hiring, onboarding and training staff
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field
  • Hold or are working toward NYS Initial or Permanent Teaching Certification birth to 2Have at least 2 years experience in a center-based program for infant/toddlers
  • Have expertise in Reggio-Emilia or emergent curricula and a progressive approach to early childhood education
  • Understand licensing requirements and compliance for DOH Article 47 programs
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced enrivonroment
  • Must be flexible to help out in various aspects of the opeartions
Compensation: $95,000-110,000/yr depending on experience and qualifications
