The Regulatory Specialist will work closely with the regulatory team as well as external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and legal to support compliance activities, prepare submissions, coordinate evidence collection and recordkeeping, and assist with regulatory audits, among other tasks critical to prioritizing compliance. This position will be based in Austin, TX (preferable) or Houston, TX.
Qualifications/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, information systems, energy management, or other relevant fields Knowledge in renewable energies, gas power generation, or related technologies Working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, including CIP and O&P standards Familiarity with regulatory agencies such as FERC, ISOs, and PUCs Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and technical writing skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a cross-functional environment
Preferred Requirements: NERC, CIP, GIAC and other industry certifications Experience with GADS and/or MIDAS reporting Experience supporting Generating Owner (GO) and Generator Operator (GOP) compliance programs Knowledge of power system operations, protection systems, SCADA, or energy storage Working knowledge of power markets, renewable incentives (RECs, tax credits), and regulatory frameworks Based in Austin, Texas (preferable) or Houston, Texas The Regulatory Specialist prioritizes regulatory compliance as the fleet of power generation assets continues growing: Accountability for compliance across relevant regulatory agencies “Owner’s eye” role Activities: Work alongside the regulatory team, SMEs, and legal to identify, prepare, and timely submit recuring and event‑based reports. The Regulatory Specialist will work on submissions for various agencies (FERC, ERCOT, PJM, NERC, EIA, and PUCs, among others) to register projects under construction, report on asset metrics such as power generation and safety compliance, respond to requests for information, and self‑report as necessary. Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards, inclusive of CIP and O&P requirements, across the complete portfolio of operating assets Drive the collection, organization, and retention of documentation needed for NERC Reliability Standards compliance. This will include the performance of compliance activities related to PRC, MOD, FAC, MOD, FAC, EOP, BAL, VAR, GADS, and MIDAS. Support NERC CIP compliance program through the maintenance of asset inventories, training records, policies, and annual review activities Develop an understanding of the various regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over Integrated Power US’s operating assets to advise on compliance obligations and provide recommendations on best practices. This work will be performed with the support of SMEs and legal. Communicate regulatory with various teams within the Company to disseminate compliance requirements and best practices Maintain internal compliance monitoring tools for audits, self‑reports, and mitigation plans Create compliance calendars, trackers, procedures, and evidence repositories as necessary to ensure proper recordkeeping Identify documentation gaps and support corrective actions to maintain audit readiness Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of the compliance program
