About the role

General Summary: Direct all Human Resource activities for the Filer City Mill. To include negotiating & administering the collective bargaining agreement, insuring compliance with all federal & state employment laws, maintaining a properly skilled & trained work force, directing the mill safety program, EEO/AAP activities & maintaining a positive image in public & community affairs. Prerequisites
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Labor & Industrial Relations or similar.
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years in Human Resources & Labor Relations. At least 3 years in labor relations negotiating labor contracts & handling labor arbitrations & grievance.
Skills: Chief spokesperson in labor contract negotiations & arbitration cases. Must have excellent organizational skills & ability to communicate in both written & oral form Other: Ability to relate to all levels in organization from hourly to President and CEO. Must have working knowledge or federal & state workers compensation system.
Essential Functions: The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to...Negotiate collective bargaining agreement & serve as chief company spokesperson Maintains compliance with ISO Quality System responsibilities. Act as chief company spokesperson at grievance & arbitration hearings. Act as mill liaison with outside legal firms & corporate legal department regarding lawsuits, NLRB charges, EEO charges or general liability cases. Administer PCA Salary Administration program & insure compliance with budget. Insure compliance with all PCA Human Resource Policies. Prepare & monitor compliance with manpower budgets for both hourly & salary personnel. Provide for and direct the mill security force for the protection of mill property, equipment, & personnel. Direct mill compliance with all EEO & affirmative action requirements. Direct mill safety program to insure the safety of all employees & direct effort to reduce workers comp costs. Recruit exempt & non-exempt employees. Direct the administration of both salary & hourly benefit programs. Serve as mill liaison with the media to insure a positive public image.
