The successful candidate will be an academic physician leader with a strong background in internal medicine, holding an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, and board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. This role is pivotal in providing strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the division, including academic, research, and clinical programs. The Chief will be responsible for the division's planning, policy, and operations, and will have financial authority over the division's budget and funding. A key aspect of the position is the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and staff, with a focus on multi-disciplinary clinical and translational research in various priority areas. Applicants for the Chief position at the company should have a minimum of 5 years' of administrative experience in an academic medical center, a proven track record of national distinction in teaching, clinical care, and research, and a commitment to patient care with a service-oriented, team-based philosophy. The role requires the ability to work in close collaboration with other leaders and stakeholders, both within the academic institution and in the broader community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in faculty affairs, educational and training programs, and a successful history of recruitment and development of faculty, trainees, and students.
