About the role
Mayson James is partnering with a fast-growing, recently private equity-backed business in Northwest Indiana to appoint a Corporate Controller. Working closely with the CFO, you'll take full ownership of the accounting function in a hands-on leadership role, with a genuine opportunity to shape the team, processes and systems as the business scales.
The Role:
You'll lead all aspects of accounting and act as a trusted partner to FP&A, operational managers and the executive team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full ownership and team leadership across reporting, controlling, group consolidations, AP, AR, fixed assets, tax, treasury and audit
- Leading the global month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including accruals, equity roll forwards and revenue recognition, with strong controls in place
- Reviewing and approving all reconciliations, analyzing monthly trial balances and maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Preparing internal and external financial statements for owners, banks and lenders
- Owning day-to-day banking relationships, including borrowing base submissions (AR and inventory) and weekly cash flow forecasting
- Coordinating the annual consolidated audit and income tax filing, plus third-party audits (field exams, insurance, property tax) and appraisals
- Managing lease financing schedules and acting as the main contact for lease finance providers
- Supporting the annual insurance renewal process
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP and the requirements of lenders, private contributions and government contracts
- Driving efficiency through process improvement and automation, and supporting ERP enhancements and upgrades
Partnering with the Payroll Manager to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 10+ years' accounting experience, including leading teams
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
- Effective presentation skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel
Experience with borrowing base reporting and lender relationships is highly desirable.*** This role is based in Northwest Indiana and operate 4 days in the office, 1 remote.
