About the role
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Head Diesel Mechanic to lead our in-house mechanic shop and maintain our company-owned fleet of tractors, trailers, dump trucks, and wheel loaders (payloaders), including Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks. This is a hands-on leadership position. The right candidate must be able to diagnose and repair equipment independently, oversee mechanics and helpers, and keep the shop organized and our fleet operating safely and reliably.
Responsibilities:
Lead daily shop operations, assign work, and prioritize repairs.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, electrical systems, air brakes, suspension, steering, and hydraulic systems.
Troubleshoot electronic systems using diagnostic tools and software.
Perform welding, fabrication, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
Manage preventive maintenance, inspections, and repair schedules.
Guide mechanics and helpers and inspect completed work.
Coordinate parts ordering and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Communicate equipment issues and repair progress with management.
Requirements:
Extensive hands-on experience in all major areas of diesel mechanics is required.
Strong experience working on heavy-duty trucks, tractor-trailers, and wheel loaders.
Experience with Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.
Strong welding and fabrication skills.
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems independently.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage a busy shop.
