About the role
- Prepare and final-sign complex 1040s, including multi-state returns, rentals, Schedule C, S-corporation, and partnership returns
- Perform final review on returns prepared by others and coach team members
- Identify and execute proactive tax-planning opportunities, including:
- Bunching strategies
- Roth conversions
- Entity selectionQBI optimization
- Cost segregation
- And other advanced planning strategies
- Represent clients in IRS audits, collections matters, Offers in Compromise (OIC), installment agreements, and penalty-abatement cases
- Work directly with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, trustees, and their attorneys
- Explain the “why” behind tax positions, not simply the “how”What We NeedThese are non-negotiable requirements:
- Active CPA license 2+ years of final sign-off authority on 1040s and small-business returns 3+ years preparing and/or reviewing 100+ returns annually, with full-cycle experience rather than seasonal-only preparation
- Proven experience personally handling IRS notices, audits, or collections cases
- Ability to confidently explain and defend the reasoning behind tax positions
- No disciplinary history with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility
- $100,000–$150,000 base salary, based on proven experience and performance 100% remote — U.S. only
