About the role

A rapidly growing Chicago-based clean energy company is looking for a Project Engineer to support the engineering and execution of solar and battery energy storage projects. The company is an established renewable energy platform that develops and constructs its own projects, giving the team exposure from project development and engineering through construction and commercial operation. The business has had immense amounts of growth and continues to expand its portfolio across solar and battery storage.
What you'll do: Support solar and battery energy storage projects from development through construction and commercial operation Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and design packages Coordinate with internal engineering, development, project management, and construction teams Manage and coordinate with third-party engineering firms and other external partners Review designs for compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements Support project schedules, technical deliverables, permitting, procurement, and construction activities Serve as a technical and project point of contact throughout project execution Identify and help resolve engineering and construction issues as projects progress Manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-growing renewable energy environment Gain broad exposure across solar, BESS, engineering, project management, and construction
What we're looking for: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university Electrical or Civil Engineering background preferred, although other relevant engineering disciplines will be considered Approximately 3–5 years of engineering experience Experience in renewable energy, ideally solar and/or battery energy storage Combination of technical engineering and project management experience Experience reviewing engineering drawings and design packages Understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, specifications, and industry practices Experience coordinating with third-party engineering firms, contractors, or external project partners Strong project coordination, communication, and organizational skills Comfortable managing multiple projects and competing priorities Comfortable working in a smaller, fast-moving organization where team members have significant autonomy and wear multiple hats Chicago-based and comfortable working a hybrid schedule with four days per week in the office and remote Fridays
