About the role
Role:
Principal Software Engineer supporting Alcon's Digital Health Engineering Team, focused on designing and delivering scalable, secure enterprise applications utilizing Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud-native solutions. Responsibilities include developing backend services, APIs, and modern web interfaces with React.js, ensuring high performance, security, and operational excellence. Collaborates with product owners, architects, DevOps, and cross-functional teams; mentors junior engineers; advocates for engineering best practices; and participates in Agile processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience in enterprise application development; strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, SQL/NoSQL databases; frontend skills with React.js; familiarity with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD); and experience with cloud-native architectures. Preferred: healthcare or digital platform experience, event-driven systems, monitoring tools, and enterprise integrations.
Location:
Fort Worth, TX. Travel requirement of approximately 10% domestic. Offers sponsorship and relocation support. The position emphasizes innovation, technical excellence, and contributing to Alcon's mission to improve sight through digital solutions.
