About the role

To support a growing State & Local Tax (SALT) practice, the full-time Director of State Tax Consulting will provide strategic consulting services to middle market and Fortune 500 clients, focusing on compliance and tax reduction strategies while working collaboratively with a talented team in a hybrid environment. Key responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor, managing multi-disciplinary reviews to identify optimal tax filing options and reduce clients' tax burdens Research state tax issues, counsel clients on controversies, and prepare technical memoranda on state and local tax matters Assist in managing client engagement staffing and profitability, while fostering professional development within the team Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation or LLM preferred CPA and/or JD certification required 10+ years of experience in state and local tax 5+ years of supervisory experience, with a focus on mentoring and counseling associates Experience as a client-serving professional in a consulting firm is desired
