About the role

advisorey. is a boutique executive search and fractional People Operations firm. We work with venture-backed startups, foundations, and law firms — placing senior leaders and building the HR infrastructure that lets those leaders actually do their jobs. We're small and deliberately so. Every engagement is partner-led, every deliverable goes out with our name on it, and nobody here hides behind a process. The Associate is the connective tissue across our client work. You'll run sourcing and candidate management on active searches, draft and maintain the People Ops deliverables our fractional clients depend on, and keep the operating rhythm of the firm intact. This is a high-exposure seat. You'll sit in client calls from week one, and you'll own real pieces of the work quickly — not because we're throwing you in, but because we're small enough that your work is visible and we'd rather teach than supervise.
About the Role: Executive search (~50%)Build talent maps and run sourcing across Linked In Recruiter, Ashby, and our network for active searches Screen candidates and write submittal summaries that carry an actual point of view — not a resume restated Own candidate experience end to end: scheduling, prep materials, feedback loops, debrief notes Keep Ashby clean — pipeline hygiene, stage discipline, and the weekly client-facing status report People Operations (~35%)Draft and maintain employment documentation: offer letters, job descriptions, handbooks, onboarding checklists Support HRIS work in Rippling — onboarding and offboarding workflows, records audits, classification questions, multi-state registration issues Assemble compliance and audit evidence (SOC 2, I-9 remediation) and flag gaps before the client finds them Help build client-facing frameworks: performance review cycles, compensation philosophy, job architecture and leveling Firm operations (~15%)Keep the Airtable pipeline and CRM current — if it isn't logged, it didn't happen Prep client meeting materials, capture notes, and drive follow-ups to close Support SOWs, fee agreements, and invoicing alongside the CEO
About You: 1+ years in recruiting, People Ops/HR, consulting, or a startup generalist role. Adjacent backgrounds welcome if the writing is strong. You write well. A large share of this job is writing — candidate summaries, job descriptions, client memos, policy language. Clear and warm, no corporate filler. You're discreet. You'll be handling compensation data, performance plans, terminations, and candidate confidences. This is non-negotiable. You close loops. You're comfortable being the only person who knows the status of something, and you surface problems early rather than quietly hoping. You're fast with tools. New ATS or HRIS, you're competent in a weekend. You don't need a playbook. We're small. You'll help write ours.
Nice to have: Hands-on Ashby, Rippling, Airtable, or Zoho experience Agency or embedded search background Exposure to multi-state or international employment (Taiwan, Malaysia, UK)Comfort working directly with founders and executive teams

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
