About the role
Join our Manufacturing team production, assembly, operation of equipment, and more and help us deliver an unmatched selection of products made with quality materials and workmanship. The Tool & Die department is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and preparing a variety of die striking, transfer, and progressive tooling utilized in the manufacturing of jewelry and jewelry components made in Die Striking. The Tool & Die Maker Apprentice builds foundational toolmaking skills through supervised, hands-on training toward Journeyman-level proficiency. The role supports experienced Toolmakers in producing steel components for blanking, forming, and assembly tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply machine shop safety practices when operating tools and equipment. Interpret two-dimensional drawings and inspect finished parts with precision measuring instruments. Select and apply tool steel grades and heat-treating methods based on the application. Perform basic machining operations, including drilling, tapping, reaming, and lathe threading. Assemble and mount basic single-operation tooling. Validate machined components using a digitizer or optical comparator. Produce simple pointed or threaded tools with a tool and cutter grinder.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.1 year of experience as a Machinist Trainee or a vocational school diploma. Knowledge of basic shop mathematics, including fractions and decimal equivalents. Ability to read two-dimensional drawings and use precision measuring instruments. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with basic machining, tooling assembly, or tool steel and heat-treating processes. Experience using a lathe, digitizer, optical comparator, or tool and cutter grinder. Work Environment/Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 50lbs Ability to utilize ergonomic equipment to help aid in repetitive tasks. Protective equipment required in work environment Eye Protection, ear protection, gloves utilized for Sharp/Hot processes, aprons, steel toe shoes.
