Role Description: The Service Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Lebanon, IN, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department. This role includes managing service staff, scheduling and prioritizing work orders, and ensuring timely, high-quality repair and maintenance of agricultural equipment. The Service Manager coordinates with parts, sales, and customers to provide accurate estimates, clear communication, and strong follow-up on all service activities. Additional responsibilities include monitoring productivity and profitability, enforcing safety and quality standards, supporting technician development and training, and resolving escalated customer concerns. The person in this role helps maintain a professional, customer-focused environment that aligns with Bane-Welker’s commitment to superior products and service.
Qualifications: Experience in service department management or related supervisory roles within agricultural or heavy equipment service environments. Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with farmers, team members, and vendors. Solid organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills to handle multiple work orders and prioritize resources efficiently. Working knowledge of agricultural equipment, diagnostic processes, and repair procedures, with the ability to support and guide technicians. Basic financial and business skills, including familiarity with service department KPIs, budgeting, and cost control. Proficiency with service management software, computerized work order systems, and standard office applications. Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team while promoting safety, quality, and continuous improvement. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, trade school, or relevant certifications in equipment or mechanics are beneficial. Previous experience in agriculture or a strong interest in supporting farming communities is highly valued.
