Overview: The Global Compensation Consulting team partners with Microsoft leaders to design and deliver compensation strategies that attract, retain, and motivate talent while advancing business priorities. The team brings deep compensation expertise, data-driven insights, and enterprise perspective to help leaders navigate complex talent decisions and evolve compensation programs across Microsoft. As Director, Head of Xbox & Corporate Functions Compensation, you will lead the team responsible for shaping and executing compensation strategy for Xbox and Microsoft's Corporate Functions. You will translate business and talent priorities into competitive, equitable, and scalable compensation solutions; advise senior executives on complex and high-impact decisions; and strengthen the frameworks, insights, and operating rhythms that enable consistent delivery. You will also lead, coach, and develop a team of compensation professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, learning, and partnership. Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Global Compensation Consulting team supporting Xbox and Microsoft's Corporate Functions, and own the compensation strategy, operating model, priorities, and delivery standards for these organizations.· Serve as a senior compensation advisor to executives, HR leaders, and cross-functional partners, translating business strategy, talent priorities, market dynamics, and financial considerations into integrated compensation strategies and decisions.· Direct compensation work from strategy and analysis through program design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation; make or escalate high-impact decisions involving significant financial, legal, employee, reputational, or execution risk.· Lead through complexity and ambiguity across Xbox and Corporate Functions, establishing clear governance, decision rights, operating rhythms, and accountability across Compensation, Finance, Legal, HR, business leadership, and other enterprise partners.· Anticipate emerging business, market, regulatory, and talent trends; use data, external insights, technology, automation, and AI to evolve the Global Compensation Consulting capability and influence broader compensation program design.· Model, coach, and care as a people leader by attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing compensation consulting team; setting clear expectations; building succession and capability plans; and creating an inclusive environment where employees can deepen their expertise, partner effectively, and do their best work.
Qualifications: Required/Minimum Qualifications· Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field AND 6+ years of experience in compensation, data analytics, human resources, finance, business, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field AND 8+ years of experience in compensation, data analytics, human resources, finance, business, or related field OR equivalent experience. Additional or Preferred Qualifications· Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field AND 12+ years of experience in compensation, data analytics, human resources, finance, business, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field AND 15+ years of experience in compensation, data analytics, human resources, finance, business, or related field OR equivalent experience.· 4+ years of project management experience.· 4+ years of compensation program design experience.· 2+ years of experience working in the position's relevant regional labor, compensation, and statutory context.· 3+ years of people management experience.· Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-impact global compensation initiatives and advising senior executives on business, talent, financial, or organizational decisions.· Experience managing multiple concurrent compensation priorities or programs with significant financial, legal, employee, and reputational implications.· Strong executive presence and judgment, with the ability to synthesize complex information, frame decisions, influence senior stakeholders, communicate clearly under pressure, and build trusted-advisor relationships across a matrixed organization.· Proven success building diverse and inclusive teams, coaching leaders and professionals, and creating clarity, accountability, and energy through change.· Experience using data, technology, automation, or AI to improve decision quality, operating efficiency, scalability, or employee outcomes. CompensationM6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
