Position Summary:
The Director of Spa & Wellness is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the spa. Coordinates management, supervisory, and non-management staff including therapists, technicians, stylists, attendants, leads, and assistant manager. Focuses efforts on maximizing departmental sales (i.e., services, retail, and profits). Responsible for aesthetics, merchandising, marketing, maintenance, cost controls, inventory, and reporting.
Essential Job Functions:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates all supervisors of spa departments Oversees the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of all spa staff, with the assistance of supervisors where appropriate Participates in the development and oversees the implementation of the spa operating budget Establishes job descriptions and standard operating procedures for the total spa operation Guides and supervises the ongoing program development and staff training in all departments Maintains knowledge and understanding of each program area and sees that programs are continually updated accordingly Research and develop new spa treatments and programs to create new packages Perform duties of programmers, reception, spa attendants, and salesclerks to ensure procedures and quality standards are met Conducts regular formal spa staff meetings for purposes of informing, training, and inspiring staff Coordinates with all other resort departments as necessary to ensure smooth and successful functioning of the spa facility, e.g., housekeeping, reservations, maintenance, accounting, human resources, purchasing, marketing, etc. Oversees spa physical plant to ensure that facilities and equipment are in proper condition and in good working order Monitors and maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the spa facility Orders equipment and supplies and maintains inventory control for all spa areas Work with marketing to develop spa marketing Plan and coordinate evening seminars/presentations to guests on spa-related topics Represents the spa in interviews with the press, and participates in public relations events as needed Recommends special projects/promotions and executes them as directed by the Vice President Managing Director Guides staff in developing and maintaining effective guest relations Participates in overall resort decisions as a member of the Executive Committee Full-Time Management position that requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
