KING, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Seattle, WA, is seeking an innovative Dayside Senior Producer to shape and energize our daily newscasts with strong editorial choices, urgency, and accuracy. Our Senior Producer is a key editorial voice who works hand-in-hand with our Executive Producer to ensure our linear and streaming-only products beat the competition and serve the community all day long. We’re looking for a leader who isn’t afraid of taking risks and ensures we are prioritizing flexibility and breaking news on all our platforms. At KING, we build creative shows that engage, educate and inform. We want your authentic personality to drive your storytelling, writing, and showcasing in an exciting and captivating manner to hold the audience.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with producers to make our shows stand out from the competition.
Inspire and motivate a team while leading by example.
Guide editorial decision-making as a leader in the newsroom.
Head up assigned special projects such as elections and big event coverage plans.
Booth continuous coverage on our live streams for breaking news and community events.
Demonstrate professionalism and composure under constant deadlines and pressure.
Consistently try new strategies and techniques after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
Use data analytics to shape content decisions.
Challenge traditional ways of doing things.
Train producers and other newsroom work groups on best practices on subjects such as executing streams, writing with urgency, and organizing big events.
Fill in for Executive Producer.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred or related or equivalent years of experience.
5 years of news content experience.
Top-notch communication skills are an absolute must.
Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes breaking news, accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
Organizational skills and the ability to work under time-pressure deadlines.
Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
Pay Range
$38.46 - $43.27 USD
