Vice President of Finance – Industrial Manufacturing Phoenix, Arizona | On-Site Our client, a growing, multi-site industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Vice President of Finance to strengthen its accounting function and lead financial operations across the United States and Canada. This executive will take ownership of a complex financial environment and ensure leadership can confidently rely on the company’s financial information. Immediate priorities include improving financial-statement accuracy, streamlining reporting, strengthening the close process and implementing consistent accounting practices across the organization. This is not simply a financial-reporting position. The Vice President of Finance will maintain close oversight of cash, working capital and business performance while translating financial information into practical recommendations for the President, Board and leadership team. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing accounting experience and has successfully improved systems, processes and controls within a smaller or privately held organization. This leader must be comfortable operating at a detailed level while also contributing to important business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the company’s senior accounting and financial leader, ensuring accurate, timely and reliable financial reporting. Evaluate and improve accounting systems, reporting processes, internal controls and the monthly close. Identify the causes of reporting errors and implement sustainable processes that improve accuracy and accountability. Establish consistent accounting policies and best practices across multiple manufacturing facilities. Oversee accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, budgeting, forecasting and financial governance. Maintain close oversight of cash flow, liquidity, working capital, credit and collections. Strengthen manufacturing accounting practices related to inventory, costing, margins, capital assets and operational performance. Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory reporting requirements, internal policies and applicable U.S. and Canadian regulations. Lead and develop the finance team, establishing clear responsibilities, standards and accountability. Provide the President and Board with clear financial analysis, forecasts and recommendations. Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, efficiency, cash generation and return on investment. Evaluate investments, capital expenditures and other significant business decisions. Support external programs related to tax reporting, payroll, benefits and workers’ compensation. Travel periodically to company facilities in Oregon and Canada.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field. Active CPA designation. Seven or more years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including senior management responsibility. Manufacturing industry experience required. Strong technical accounting foundation with direct ownership of financial statements, close processes, controls and compliance. Demonstrated success improving an accounting function where systems, reporting or financial statements required significant remediation. Hands-on experience with manufacturing costing, inventory, margins, working capital and capital assets. Experience leading finance within a smaller or privately held organization strongly preferred. Strong experience with cash management, budgeting, forecasting and operational analysis. Experience with U.S. and Canadian accounting, tax and compliance requirements preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with a President, Board of Directors and operational leaders. Sound judgment, strong business acumen and the ability to challenge constructively.
