Non-Exempt / Mandatory TestingFair Labor Standards Act Status: ApplicableMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to understand and follow oral/written instructions and work well with the public and co-workersAbility to lift heavy objects, work on scheduled holidays, and use a map to locate addressesKnowledge of the safe operation and routine maintenance of equipmentPossess and maintain a State of Florida Class B CDL license with air brake endorsement or obtain within six (6) months of hireBrief Description of DutiesHandles, carries, and empties receptacles containing solid wasteSanitation workers deposit waste into a collection vehicle and operate the compaction mechanismWorkers report vehicle mechanical problems to the driver, drive sanitation trucks to the transfer station, and ride on the external platform between collection stopsPerforms maintenance work on the division premises, cleans sanitation vehicles, and identifies hazardous waste productsOccasional weekend work, when requiredCompletes other related duties as assignedEmployment RequirementsBackground check, drug testing, and physical exam before employmentTasks involve regular and sustained physical exertionPossession of a current valid Florida driver's license is required before employmentThe compensation package will start at the base salary range.
