About the role

The Judge Group is seeking a Utilities Engineer in Murfreesboro, TN area! They will oversee project management by developing and executing short- and long-term plans, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring projects meet deadlines, quality standards, and business objectives.
Responsibilities: Lead the planning, budgeting, execution, and continuous improvement of plant utility and infrastructure projects to support operational performance, capacity growth, and sustainability objectives. Manage utility systems, including wastewater treatment, ammonia refrigeration, boilers, steam generation, compressed air, and related infrastructure to ensure reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Develop and implement maintenance strategies, preventative maintenance programs, and asset improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life. Drive energy management and sustainability initiatives by monitoring utility consumption, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing projects that improve energy efficiency and environmental performance. Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements, including permit management, emissions controls, wastewater operations, and reporting obligations. Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and external agencies to support production growth, maintain environmental compliance, and achieve business objectives. Manage utility-related budgets, capital expenditures, contractor activities, invoices, and performance metrics while delivering projects on schedule and within budget. Analyze utility system performance and prepare KPI reporting, forecasting, and operational reviews to drive data-based decision-making and continuous improvement. Provide leadership, training, and technical guidance to utility and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship. Coordinate regulatory reporting and documentation activities with internal stakeholders and government agencies to maintain permits and ensure ongoing compliance.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required 5+ years experience overseeing all facets of utility and resource maintenance and reliability management in a manufacturing facility Wastewater Systems Certification required Experience with ammonia systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) for ammonia systems Experience with high-pressure boiler systems, operations, and regulatory compliance Experience in safety and environmental processes to maintain a manufacturing facility in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
