Position Description:
The University invites applications for a full time (9 month) faculty position with a focus on Clinical Psychology in the Psychology program. The position may be tenure-track or not tenure-track. The Psychology program is in a vibrant and collegial department that also includes programs in Criminal and Restorative Justice and Child Study. The department prides itself on student-centered excellence in undergraduate teaching and its supportive culture. The Psychology program offers an undergraduate bachelor's degree in Psychology, a minor in Psychology, an accelerated pathway to the MA in Counseling, a Child Life Specialist track, and concentrations and certificates in Criminal Justice/Mental Health, Behavioral Analysis, and Expressive Therapies. The position is scheduled to begin in August 2027. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching. Candidate should possess expertise in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling. This position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who want to use their clinical expertise to mentor undergraduate students who are potentially interested in pursuing careers in mental health in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary setting. The program emphasizes small classes and close working relationships between students and faculty and takes pride in preparing undergraduate students for a wide range of professional fields. The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate courses in Psychopathology and Internship seminar, as well as other courses in their areas of expertise. Examples of possible additional courses to be taught include Introductory Psychology, courses at the intersection of Criminal and Restorative Justice and Psychology, courses in Expressive Therapies, and courses in human development. If the successful candidate is hired on the tenure-track, they will teach 12 credits per semester at the undergraduate level, engage in scholarship, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. If the position is not tenure-track, the successful candidate will teach 12 credits per semester at the undergraduate level, participate in service to the department, university, and community, and has the option to maintain clinical practice hours outside of the university. Required Skills/Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or closely related field.
Prior experience providing direct client care in a clinical, community or private practice setting.
Must hold or have previously held a valid state license as a clinical psychologist, LPC, or equivalent mental health credential.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students or evidence of strong potential in these areas.
Preferred:
- Terminal degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
- For a tenure-track position, a terminal degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and a demonstrated record of a program of scholarship is required.
