About the role
About the Role:
We are seeking a Distribution Engineer to support electric utility distribution projects, including system planning, design, equipment sizing, and engineering analysis for distribution networks. The engineer will work on projects involving medium-voltage distribution systems, substations, feeders, transformers, overhead and underground systems, and distributed energy resources (DER).
Responsibilities:
Design and engineer electric distribution systems, typically 4kV–35kVPerform load flow, short-circuit, voltage drop, and system capacity studies Develop distribution system designs, one-lines, schematics, and engineering drawings Analyze feeders, transformers, switchgear, reclosers, regulators, capacitors, and other distribution equipment Perform equipment sizing and engineering calculations Evaluate system reliability, load growth, and capacity requirements Support distribution automation and DER/interconnection projects Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction packages Coordinate with field engineers, construction teams, utilities, and other engineering disciplines Support project execution from initial design through construction and commissioning Ensure designs comply with applicable utility standards, NESC, IEEE, and other relevant requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline 3+ years of electrical/distribution engineering experience Experience with utility distribution systems Understanding of medium-voltage electrical systems Experience with load flow and short-circuit analysis Knowledge of distribution equipment and protection Ability to read and develop electrical one-lines and engineering drawings Experience with engineering software such as ETAP, CYME, Synergi, Easy Power, or similar Strong understanding of electrical power systems and utility engineering practices
