Hitachi Energy is seeking an experiencedHSSE Managerto champion Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental programs that protect people, strengthen systems, and support business success. In this leadership role, you will guide a high-performing HSSE team while partnering closely with site leadership to build sustainable organizational capability. You will help shape an environment where risks are proactively identified, learning is encouraged, and continuous improvement drives better outcomes. By applying risk-based thinking, Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles, and strong leadership practices, you will influence how work is performed safely and effectively across the site. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines. You'll work across functions, engage with leaders at all levels, and contribute to initiatives that support the wellbeing of people, the environment, and the long-term success of the business. How you'll make an impact:
  • Lead and develop a high-performing HSSE team while building long-term organizational capability.
  • Establish and execute HSSE strategies focused on learning, system effectiveness, and serious injury and fatality prevention.
  • Coach and advise leaders to strengthen risk awareness, accountability, and safety leadership behaviors.
  • Drive operational learning initiatives to identify vulnerabilities and improve risk management systems.
  • Lead incident, near-miss, and learning reviews with a focus on system improvement and organizational learning.
  • Monitor HSSE trends, audits, inspections, and corrective actions to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and improve ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and certifications.
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital planning, and HSSE programs that strengthen operational performance.
  • Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of Health, Safety, and Environmental experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of people leadership or management experience.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
  • Experience working with HSSE regulations, management systems, audits, investigations, and risk management programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital management tools; experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HOP principles, SIF programs, or professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM) is highly valued.
