About the role

Location: Hybrid- Chantilly, VA (in office 3-4 times a week)
Overview:
Controller directs all accounting functions including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, and preparation of financial reports. This position reports to the President with indirect reporting to the Finance leadership team.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Oversee the operations of the accounting, finance, and related functions.
- Responsible for building and developing accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversight of month-end close process, including review of reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and identification and research of accounting issues.
- Coordinate, analyze, and report financial performance to management.
- Oversee payments of all accounts.
- Monitor working capital and funding balances.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of company divisions.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
- Manage the preparation of the financial statements and notes thereto
- Manage the external auditors.
- Represent finance in the identification and implementation of new systems and upgrade of existing systems.
- Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and principles.
- Responsible for leading and managing the Federal Finance and Accounting team.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or practical equivalent.
- 10 or more years of solid accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
- 5-10 years progressive accounting experience managing/maintaining Deltek Costpoint ERP system.
- Hands-on knowledge of DCAA compliance standards, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and initiative.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close.
- Strong accounting software user and administration skills.
- Experience working with senior management leadership and ability to influence others cross-functionally.
- Experience leading and managing people and direct reports is required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
