Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support day-to-day facilities operations within a professional commercial office environment. This role will assist with general maintenance and repairs, office relocations and reconfigurations, conference room setups, carpentry requests, work orders, contractor escorts, and other facilities-related needs. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, customer-focused, comfortable working in an occupied office environment, and able to manage multiple maintenance requests while providing professional service to employees and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Set up conference rooms for meetings, including tables, chairs, and other required equipment. Receive, update, and close maintenance requests through a computerized or mobile work-order system. Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout offices, cubicles, common areas, pantries, and restrooms. Replace lamps and identify lighting issues, including LED driver replacement needs. Replace ceiling tiles and perform light carpentry using power tools. Complete minor plumbing repairs. Respond to temperature and comfort-related requests, including taking temperatures and adjusting thermostats. Secure cove base, hang artwork, install shelving, complete minor carpet repairs, and level conference-room shades. Deliver and retrieve archive boxes and coordinate staging for pickup. Escort contractors and deliveries throughout the facility. Assist with internal office relocations and workspace reconfigurations. Monitor scheduled services and report any issues to facilities management. Track maintenance-shop supplies and communicate replenishment needs. Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments related to maintenance or carpentry requests. Assist facilities management with projects, repairs, maintenance, and daily operations. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Five or more years of experience working in a Class A commercial property is preferred. Hands-on experience performing general building or facilities maintenance. Experience using power tools. Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, lighting, and general repairs. Ability to operate a computer, mobile device, and two-way radio. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret building plans and blueprints. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to troubleshoot problems, collect information, evaluate situations, and determine appropriate solutions. Strong verbal communication and customer-service skills. Ability to professionally respond to questions, concerns, or complaints and maintain positive relationships with building occupants.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and walk through crowded areas. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 250 pounds. Ability to use standard office and maintenance equipment. Ability to read printed and digital documents, spreadsheets, building plans, and blueprints. Role may involve exposure to conditions typically found in an office or physical plant environment.
