About the role

JOB DESCRIPTION: Ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Clean Water Act (CWA), ADEQ regulations, and local environmental requirements. Manage regulatory permits, including AZPDES/NPDES discharge permits and drinking water system compliance requirements. Oversee environmental monitoring, sampling programs, compliance reporting, and recordkeeping. Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions with ADEQ, EPA, and local authorities. Investigate permit exceedances, compliance concerns, and environmental incidents; implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with water quality standards, public notification requirements, Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR), and water safety regulations. Develop and maintain environmental compliance programs, policies, and training initiatives. Support capital projects and operational teams by ensuring environmental and regulatory requirements are incorporated into facility upgrades and system improvements. Track regulatory changes and implement processes to maintain ongoing compliance.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biology, or a related field. 5+ years of environmental compliance experience within water treatment, wastewater treatment, water utilities, or related industries. Experience managing environmental permits, regulatory reporting, inspections, and compliance programs. Strong knowledge of: Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Clean Water Act (CWA) ADEQ water Wastewater regulations AZPDES/NPDES permitting Water quality compliance and public health requirementsNICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEArizona Water or Wastewater Operator Certification. Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP). Experience working directly with municipal water utilities, wastewater treatment plants, or industrial water systems.
