About the role

Salary: $130,000 - 155,000 per year
Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in electrical engineering (ECEN) or computer science and at least 10 years of firmware development experience. Expert proficiency in embedded C and C++, with substantial experience in bare-metal firmware, low-level hardware interfacing, and firmware for battery-powered portable or handheld products. Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, register-level programming, peripheral drivers, board support packages, device drivers, and hardware abstraction layers. Strong understanding of interrupts, timers, DMA, watchdogs, power management, power optimization, sleep states, and battery-life extension. Experience with bootloader design, firmware updates, and recovery mechanisms. Experience integrating and debugging cellular modules, including LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, and 4G/5G, along with knowledge of wireless protocols and networking. Experience with MQTT, TCP/IP, UDP, TLS/SSL, HTTP/HTTPS, and embedded networking stacks. Hands-on experience with UART, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO, ADC, and other embedded interfaces. Experience with real-time embedded systems and RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr. Strong debugging skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and SWD tools. Experience in firmware architecture, software design patterns, code optimization, Git-based source control, and CI/CD workflows. Experience bringing up hardware platforms from prototype through production and troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and communications across the product stack.
Preferred: Experience with LTE-M, NB-IoT, low-power IoT, Nordic nRF91, STM32, NXP, Renesas, or similar platforms; BLE, Wi-Fi, GNSS, or NFC; secure boot, firmware signing, encryption, or OTA/FOTA updates; battery charging systems, PMICs, or fuel gauge ICs; carrier certification; regulated or safety-critical products; manufacturing test support; or product commercialization. Senior-level competencies include technical leadership and firmware architecture ownership, mentoring and code review, defining firmware requirements and roadmaps, cross-functional collaboration, and a track record of taking connected products from concept through production.
Responsibilities: We design, implement, and test electronics and firmware for assigned projects, developing new products and improving existing ones. We identify technologies and methods that improve product performance and reliability, add features, reduce engineering effort, and lower component or production costs. We help translate marketing needs into technical product requirements and develop project plans, schedules, task estimates, and milestones. We follow and help improve product development practices, producing and maintaining requirements, architecture and design documentation, schematics, simulations, analyses, code, and test results. We participate in design reviews and product verification. We create rapid prototypes and product mock-ups for Marketing and Sales to validate market requirements. We support marketing with technical evaluations and development and cost estimates for proposed products, and provide engineering assistance to Sales, Customer Service, and Marketing. We support Production by improving manufacturability, reducing build costs, helping select and qualify suppliers, and investigating production or field failures to identify root causes and make design changes when appropriate. We apply relevant domestic and international regulatory standards, support testing and certification, and incorporate applicable standards into product requirements. We continually develop our skills through training, technical literature, industry events, workshops, and relevant coursework. We contribute to project objectives with creativity, innovation, and sound engineering practices, taking additional steps when needed to keep assigned projects on schedule.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
