About the role

Industrial Hygienist Structural Forensic Experts (SFE) is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist for part-time opportunities supporting investigations of construction-related disputes throughout the United States. Our experts evaluate environmental and occupational conditions associated with commercial, industrial, institutional, residential, manufacturing, and other facilities. Assignments may involve mold and moisture, indoor air quality, asbestos, lead, chemical exposures, hazardous materials, and other environmental or occupational health concerns. SFE works throughout the United States, and our experts can collaborate with one of our regional teams while working principally from their current location.
Responsibilities: Evaluate environmental and occupational health conditions associated with buildings, facilities, and construction projects Review project documents, environmental reports, sampling data, laboratory results, maintenance records, and other technical information Investigate conditions involving mold, indoor air quality, asbestos, lead, chemical exposure, and other potential environmental hazards Develop and oversee appropriate sampling, testing, and data-gathering protocols Evaluate sampling and laboratory results and determine the significance of findings Assess applicable industry standards, regulations, guidelines, and accepted practices Document site conditions and technical findings Prepare clear, well-supported reports and technical opinions Provide expert testimony in depositions, hearings, arbitration, and trial as required
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential preferred 20+ years of combined academic and professional experience within your area of expertise Extensive experience conducting or evaluating industrial hygiene and environmental investigations Strong knowledge of sampling methodologies, exposure assessment, laboratory data, and applicable standards and regulations Experience with building-related environmental conditions is highly desirable Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability and willingness to provide expert testimony Experience in construction claims, litigation support, or expert witness work is highly desirable but not required. SFE offers experienced professionals the opportunity to apply decades of technical knowledge to complex environmental and construction-related matters while maintaining flexibility in where and how they work.
