Staff - Head Coach, Men’s and Women’s Soccer Job Title Staff - Head Coach, Men’s and Women’s Soccer Pay Rate Pay Rate $45,000-$47,000 Annually Job Category Job Category Staff Department Department ATHLETICS Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Full-time position responsible for the administration and development of the inaugural Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams. Recruits, selects and monitors student-athletes. Primary focus is on student athletes’ academic success, teaching the sport of soccer at the collegiate level and development as good citizens and representatives of the College. Follows rules and guidelines in strict accordance with the NJCAA and MCCAA. Develops preliminary budget, schedule, travel and equipment needs. In conjunction with the Athletic Director, hires Assistant Coaches and works to establish fundraising goals and promotional visibility of the College.
Required Qualifications: Extensive successful coaching experience at high school varsity level or higher
Experience with budget oversight, student activities and a willingness to work with students in a service capacity Valid Driver’s License CPR / AED Certification
Preferred Qualifications: College level soccer and coaching experience
Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations Strong communication, motivational and organization skills Team building abilities and working in a collaborative environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Recruits and maintains a full roster of eligible student-athletes (18-25 per team) Builds relationships with high school coaches to increase pipeline not just of interested athletes, but all potential students for SMC Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport Observes players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met, and encourages student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development Works with the Athletic Director and the Director of Campus Life in scheduling facilities for practices and competition Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury Follows NJCAA, MCCAA and College regulations governing the athletic program Maintains team statistics as required by the NJCAA and MCCAA Develops competition schedule and works with Athletics Administrative Assistant to coordinate team travel Models SMC’s core values and maintains appropriate conduct towards players and officials Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms In collaboration with the Athletic Director, coordinates athletic fundraising efforts, including athletic camps or other initiatives and events Responsible for proper budget management and for prompt submissions of accurate expense information and receipts The duties listed in this job description are not all-inclusive, but a list of the major responsibilities.
