About the role

As a Tool and Die Maker, you will take a hands-on role in building, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex metal stamping dies. You'll lead advanced tooling work, conduct die tryouts, possibly mentor junior toolmakers, and collaborate closely with engineering and design teams. With expert-level machining and precision skills, you'll ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient tooling that keeps production running at peak performance.
A Day in the Life: Interpret engineering drawings, die designs, and GD&T with expert precisionSafely operate manual machines (knee mill, surface grinder, lathe, drill press) at a master levelLead new progressive die assembly including grinding, polishing, aligning, timing, and verifying clearancesConduct progressive die tryouts/debugging at the punch press and make necessary adjustmentsManufacture simple die components that do not require CNC or Wire EDMBuild and assemble advanced tooling such as blanking tools, brake tools, and fixturesDevelop and refine flat blank geometry for formed partsRepair, sharpen, and maintain dies; dismantle and reassemble components with high accuracyInspect tooling and parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instrumentsShape, smooth, and finish die components for exact part geometryReview tooling and recommend design improvements for performance and longevityMentor and support Tool and Die Maker I and II team membersFollow all safety and compliance proceduresCollaborate with supervisors and designers; document changes and improvementsPerform other related duties as assignedYou're a Great Fit If You: Have strong mechanical aptitude and advanced handson machining experienceAre highly skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and GD&TAre proficient with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gaugesHave strong mathematical and problemsolving abilities related to dimensions and tolerancesCommunicate clearly and work effectively within a teamDemonstrate excellent manual dexterity, detail orientation, and a commitment to qualityPrioritize safety and follow established proceduresPreferred Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in tool & die making preferred 5+ years of experience in tool & die making with strong manufacturing backgroundFamiliarity with CAD software for die design or modificationExperience with manual machining, advanced die assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting
