Job Description: We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist - HTS Classification to manage and support U.S. import classification activities. The role will focus on accurately classifying products, equipment, materials, components, and spare parts under HTSUS, while ensuring compliance with applicable customs regulations and CBP requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Research and assign HTSUS classifications for imported products, equipment, materials, components, and spare parts.
  • Review engineering drawings, product specifications, technical literature, supplier information, and other documentation to determine classifications.
  • Apply HTSUS, GRIs, Explanatory Notes, CBP CROSS rulings, and applicable customs regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain classification rationales and supporting documentation for audit readiness and compliance.
  • Partner with Customs, Regulatory, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, and business teams to resolve classification questions.
  • Manage classification requests to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Support customs audits, internal reviews, CBP inquiries, and binding ruling activities.
  • Conduct classification quality reviews, consistency checks, and periodic revalidations.
  • Support annual tariff updates, classification data maintenance, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience 3-7+ years of experience in Customs, Import/Export, Trade Compliance, or HTS classification.
  • Hands-on experience with U.S. HTSUS classification.
  • Strong knowledge of GRIs, Explanatory Notes, CBP CROSS rulings, and customs regulations.
  • Experience interpreting technical documentation such as engineering drawings and product specifications.
  • Experience supporting customs audits, classification reviews, or binding ruling activities preferred.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, engineering, energy, or other technical-product experience is a plus.

Additional Qualifications: This position requires regular interaction with manufacturing equipment and personnel in both office and production environments. The role may involve standing, walking, lifting moderate loads, and exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, moving equipment, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures.
