About the role
The Technician 1, Low Voltage is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and maintaining nurse call systems for healthcare customers. This role requires reading blueprints, ensuring compliance with safety and code standards, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting high-quality, on-time installations. The technician will work in diverse environments and collaborate with field teams to deliver reliable, structured cabling solutions while maintaining excellent customer service. As such the following values guide our behaviors: A Servant's Heart -- Focus on the Needs of Others, Wisdom -- Insightful, Integrity -- Honesty and Trustworthy, Courage -- Decisive and Confident in Others, Humility -- Modest and Respectful, Passion -- Unfailing DedicationESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESJob Planning & Execution: Inspect work areas and complete Job Hazard Analysis prior to starting work to ensure a safe jobsite and compliance with company safety standards Review and plan daily tasks, scheduling, equipment, tools, and material needs to maintain project efficiency and quality Analyze blueprints and prepare for upcoming tasks by anticipating equipment, procedures, and training needs Complete post-installation documentation, timesheets, materials reconciliation, and daily logs Installation & Technical Work: Install new cabling in new or existing healthcare facilities Terminate and test CAT5e cable for nurse call systems Install nurse call head end equipment, corridor lights, patient stations, RTLS devices, and software/firmware upgrades Troubleshoot technical issues and hardware components at various locations to ensure system functionality and performance Operate necessary tools and equipment as required by job specifications Professional Knowledge, Quality, & Communication: Stay current on low-voltage cabling codes, color codes, industry standards, and testing procedures Communicate professionally with customers, team members, permitting authorities, and vendors Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, initiative, and creativity in fieldwork Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination: Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task. Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention. Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents. Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed. Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required 2 years experience in low voltage cabling is strongly preferredEXPERIENCE, SKILL AND ABILITIESPositive safety attitude and personal integrity -- both are non-negotiable Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams) Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Self-starter with willingness to take on difficult cabling jobs Solid attention to detail with good follow-through Ability to read and understand construction drawings Ability to work in team environment with demonstrated positive attitudePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSPerform work while standing, climbing ladders, crawling, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs., both indoors and outdoors Work in environments involving moving machinery, temperature fluctuations, dust, fumes, and confined spaces MetroPower is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
