About the role

We are seeking an experienced television/video producer to take charge of exciting new short form documentary projects and daily video content about medical treatments for Survivor Net's web and connected TV platforms. We are looking for a journalism background, experienced hires only, and 100% on site in NY. You should be comfortable taking projects from concept to expertly packaged work published across digital platforms. Survivor Net is the leading information platform in the country for cancer information. Our patient focused journalism is helping millions of people every month to make better decisions about their care and feel less alone. Our ideal producer hire will be completely comfortable overseeing and managing every aspect of short form video production. You should have a track record of delivering high quality work on budget and in line with specific goals for factual integrity, visual look, and budget. A background in journalism is highly preferred. As part of your work you will develop stories, book interview subjects, plan shoots, write scripts, sit in the edit room, and go out in the field. The ability to be extremely flexible in production style and work under deadlines are important components of this job. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able lead production teams while juggling multiple production deliverables and timelines. This person must be organized and able to think creatively and quickly to approach unique problems in new ways.
Responsibilities: •  A-Z management of short form documentary pieces•  Story development, creation of shoot plan, management of all logistics•  Producing on location•  Manage crew on site and ensure the storylines are captured•  Communicate effectively with subjects on pre-shoot phone calls, shoot dates and Requirements•  A proven track record of impeccable judgement, excellent writing and editing skills, and management of pieces from conception to final sound mix is required•  A strong background in journalism and the video production process with the ability to manage multiple deliverables•  A positive attitude and strong work ethic•  A self-starter with excellent communication skills who can interact and maintain the highest level of care with award-winning talent•  Significant experience, or a very a strong interest, in health, wellness, and science content•  The ability to work under intense deadline pressure.
