About the role
Position Objective: The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for modular building projects across a variety of commercial sectors. This role plays a critical part in the project lifecycle by bridging design, engineering, procurement, and production by translating conceptual and technical information into detailed cost projections.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed cost estimates based on architectural drawings, specifications, and conceptual designs; follow up on all outstanding estimates and projectsDevelop preliminary budgets, detailed estimates, and final bid proposals for projects; identify cost savings opportunities without compromising quality, schedule or performance; recommend alternative materials, methods or configurationsAnalyze labor, material, equipment, transportation, and other costs; ensure design optimization for manufacturability and efficiencyEvaluate project risks and incorporate contingencies where appropriateResearches all necessary special pricing, code compliance, and structural requirements of projects; provide submittals as requiredSolicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractorsPrice change orders and red-line changesProvides accurate sales release packages for EngineeringOther duties as assignedThis position is also expected to:Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; manage multiple competing priorities successfullyMaintain a positive, professional demeanor at all timesProvide outstanding customer service to internal and external clientsBe very detail oriented and well organizedPossess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and writtenBe skilled at problem solving and analysis; proactive and team orientedJob RequirementsQualifications and Educational RequirementsBachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or related field; or equivalent experienceMinimum of five (5) years of estimating experience in commercial modular construction/manufacturingExperience in modular, prefabricated, or offsite constructionFamiliarity with design-build project delivery methodsProficiency in design estimating softwareStrong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and building systemsPreferred SkillsKnowledge of logistics and transportation considerations for modular unitsCertified Professional Estimator (CPE) a plusJob RequirementsAble to successfully pass a criminal background check (following a conditional offer of employment)An estimator role is mostly light-duty physically, involving extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer work. It may include occasional site visits that require walking, climbing stairs, or navigating job sites, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Overall, the physical demands are minimal, with a focus on mobility, basic stamina, and visual attention to detail rather than strength.
