Senior Accountant
Location: Chicago
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Absolute Must Have- Non Negotiables: Current Title: Senior Accountant Hands on Experience with ASC 606/Revenue Recognition. A growing organization is adding an experienced accounting professional to its finance team. This position will focus heavily on revenue-related accounting and offers the opportunity to work across several areas of the accounting function while partnering with teams throughout the business.
What You'll Do:
  • Take ownership of day-to-day revenue accounting activities and related close responsibilities
  • Record and review accounting entries associated with customer activity
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research discrepancies through resolution
  • Monitor receivables and other revenue-related balances to ensure financial records remain accurate
  • Work with billing and operational teams to address discrepancies and improve transaction accuracy
  • Review contractual terms and translate them into appropriate accounting conclusions
  • Assist with revenue recognition analysis for non-routine transactions
  • Compile schedules, supporting materials, and explanations for financial reviews
  • Help coordinate requests from auditors and provide necessary accounting support
  • Contribute to the preparation of recurring financial reporting
  • Track open accounting items and ensure deliverables are completed within established timelines
  • Document accounting procedures and help identify ways to streamline existing processes
  • Investigate unusual activity and communicate findings to relevant business partners
  • Assist with projects involving accounting systems, reporting, controls, and process enhancements
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong background in revenue accounting and revenue recognition
  • Hands-on experience with ASC 606 Solid understanding of month-end close and financial reporting
  • Strong account reconciliation experience, particularly AR and revenue-related accounts
  • Experience reviewing contracts or customer agreements from an accounting perspective
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large amounts of financial data
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
