About the role
Utilities & Effluent Operator Clariant is seeking a Utilities and Effluent Operator to support our Care Chemicals business at our Mt. Holly, North Carolina facility. In this role, you will operate wastewater treatment equipment and utilities, helping ensure the plant meets city and state regulations and site permit conditions. Reporting to the Lead Production Supervisor, you will join a collaborative team focused on safe operations, accurate testing, and effective waste stream management. Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, processes, and utilities according to operating instructions, site procedures, and permit conditions.
Complete training on wastewater treatment systems, utilities, and assigned plant responsibilities to support reliable operations.
Perform required testing, sampling, and chemical charging; maintain accurate operating records and prepare wastewater treatment reports.
Coordinate with production teams to control waste streams and communicate conditions or changes that may affect treatment operations.
Troubleshoot wastewater treatment and equipment issues, responding promptly and communicating concerns clearly to the appropriate team members.
Read and follow batch sheets, standard operating procedures, and safety data sheets to ensure safe and accurate task completion.
Participate actively in the Mt. Holly safety program and perform housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, orderly work environment.
Frequently operate a forklift to move raw materials and finished goods in accordance with site safety procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma.
- Prior experience in chemical operations is preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency, good math skills, and strong reading comprehension.
- Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex operating environment.
- Ability to work in conditions involving heat, rain, snow, and cold weather.
