Corporate Controller As a key business partner to the CAO, CFO, and other senior leaders, the Corporate Controller will provide clear insight into financial performance, anticipate emerging risks and opportunities, and help strengthen decision-making across the organization. The role will also interact with representatives of Antin, the private equity sponsor of VMG's parent company. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, strategic leader who promotes accountability, transparency, trust, and strong communication across Finance and the broader organization.
Pay Range: $208,000 – 224,000 Essential Functions and
Major Responsibilities: Lead all accounting activities, including the general ledger, multi-entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax, treasury, and financial reporting. Play an integral role in major systems initiatives, including ERP, payroll and HCM, finance optimization tools, and the evaluation and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies. Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes and ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial statements and management reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Maintain a strong internal control environment; identify control gaps and lead the design and implementation of effective, sustainable improvements. Lead cross-functional projects aligned with the company's annual business objectives and strategic priorities. Partner across the organization to continuously improve policies, processes, and systems and to support scalable business growth. Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing accounting team, including responsibility for organizational design, talent development, recruiting, engagement, and retention. Lead all aspects of the annual external audit, including preparation and review of the annual financial statements and communications with the external audit firm and Audit Committee. Oversee accounting for long-term, project-based contracts, including revenue recognition, job cost, work-in-process, estimate-at-completion, and related balance sheet accounting. Oversee treasury activities, including cash and investment management, liquidity planning, weekly cash forecasting, and pension and 401(k) plan oversight. Partner with Government Compliance to support compliance with applicable FAR, CAS, and contract requirements, including cost allocations, indirect rates, audit readiness, and responses to government inquiries. Support preparation of the annual operating budget and related financial planning activities, including the integrity of actual-to-budget reporting. Establish and maintain accounting policies, financial data governance, chart-of-accounts standards, and related procedures to promote consistency across legal entities and business units. Support mergers and acquisitions, purchase accounting, acquisition integration, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Previous responsibility for multi-entity financial reporting, close, controls, and team development. Strong technical accounting expertise, including experience with business combinations and purchase accounting, intangible assets, ASC 606, and ASC 842.Experience with project-based accounting and U.S. government contracting requirements, including FAR, CAS, indirect rates, and government audit support, strongly preferred. Experience leading external audits and communicating effectively with senior executives, boards or audit committees, auditors, and cross-functional partners. Strong leadership presence, sound judgment, and a demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams. Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, ERP and related systems, internal controls, data quality, and reporting in a complex operating environment. Private equity-backed, public company, manufacturing, marine, transaction, or finance transformation experience preferred. Education and/or
Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and an active CPA license required; advanced degree preferred. At least 12 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant leadership. Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Active CPA license
