About the role
Meat Utility Associate A leading meat processing and distribution company in Edison, NJ is seeking a Meat Utility Associate to support daily production operations in a refrigerated meat processing facility. This role plays a key part in converting raw materials into finished products through processing, packaging, product handling, and sanitation activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a cold, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Contract Duration: Approximately 22 weeks (880 total hours)
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM until production is completed (approximately 8.3 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
Location: Edison, NJ 08837 (on-site)
Travel: None required Key Responsibilities
Operate packaging equipment, including Multi-Vac and other packaging machines Package meat products for shipment and distribution Open meat products and de-box incoming materials Carry boxes and manually handle and transfer product throughout the facility Perform box assembly for packaging operations Support basic meat processing operations, including mixing, grinding, separating, and filtering Operate machine tools as required Perform basic sanitation and cleaning duties Follow all food safety, quality assurance, and workplace safety procedures Follow instructions and maintain strict adherence to safety standards
Required Qualifications:
Ability to work in a refrigerated, cold production environment Ability to perform manual handling, lifting, and carrying tasks throughout a full shift Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately Strong commitment to workplace and food safety standards Reliable and punctual with consistent attendance
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in meat processing, food production, or manufacturing environments Experience operating packaging or production machinery Basic understanding of food safety and quality assurance practices
