About the role
- Process multi-state US and Canada payroll accurately and on time, including bi-weekly payrolls, off-cycle payments, and manual checks
- Serve as the in-house expert for UKG Pro payroll and Workforce Management Dimensions, including configuration, troubleshooting, and working with UKG support
- Review and simplify our current UKG setup, and replace manual workarounds with sustainable, well-controlled processes
- Write and maintain clear payroll procedures and process documentation so that payroll can be run by someone else when needed
- Act as primary point of contact for our international payroll providers (UK, Australia, Germany, India): review inputs and outputs, reconcile results, and make sure employees are paid correctly and on time
- Perform and or support the reconciliation of payroll to the general ledger with Accounting each cycle, and support audit and compliance requests
- Maintain strong payroll controls, including approvals, access, and separation of duties
- Record and process employee changes, including leaves of absence, salary changes, and reporting changes
- Make sure new hire and termination data flows correctly from HRIS into payroll
- Manage state tax registrations and ongoing tax filings, and keep employee tax profiles accurate
- Work with Benefits and HR Business Partners on deductions, open enrollment, and other payroll-related processes
- Work with the HRIS Manager to get the most out of UKGHandle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Help train and back up team members as the payroll function grows
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed
- 5 to 7+ years of hands-on payroll experience, with at least 3 years processing payroll in UKG Pro (UltiPro)
- Experience processing multi-state US payroll and Canadian payroll
- Experience supporting or coordinating international payrolls with outside providers
- Experience in a growing company with 700+ employees across multiple countries
- Comfort running payroll independently, including when something goes wrong mid-cycle
- Experience documenting processes and improving or cleaning up existing payroll setups
- Strong understanding of payroll tax, compliance, and internal controlsBS/BA in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferredCPP preferred
- Strong Excel skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and G-SuiteStrong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight, recurring deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication, with a collaborative, helpful attitude
- High integrity and a track record of protecting confidential information
- A sense of ownership and pride in getting it right
