Role Description: This full-time, on-site Veterinarian role is based at Sycamore Animal Hospital in Sycamore, IL. The Veterinarian will perform physical examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, recommend and implement treatment plans, and provide preventive care such as vaccinations and wellness counseling. Daily responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic tests, performing routine and some advanced surgical procedures, prescribing medications, and maintaining accurate medical records. The Veterinarian will communicate clearly with clients about diagnoses, treatment options, and home care, while collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. Participation in hospital protocols, ongoing medical education, and occasional emergency or urgent care coverage may be expected.
Qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for Illinois veterinary licensure. Demonstrated proficiency in small animal medicine, routine surgery (such as spay/neuter, mass removals, dental procedures), and preventive care. Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret laboratory results and imaging. Effective interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating clients in an understandable, respectful manner. Commitment to compassionate, fear-free, or low-stress handling of animals and adherence to ethical, evidence-based medical standards. Ability to work reliably in an on-site, full-time schedule, including occasional extended or flexible hours as needed for patient care. Experience with or willingness to learn practice management software and electronic medical records. Previous clinical experience in general small animal practice or completion of an internship is preferred but not required for highly motivated new graduates.
