About the role
Materials Manager Location:
Hingham, MA Our client is hiring a Materials Manager to own sourcing, inventory, and delivery for the plant, making sure the right materials arrive when production needs them.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead all supply chain activities in the factory, including supplier selection based on price, quality, delivery, certifications, and regulatory compliance - Manage inventory levels, inventory turns, and supplier on-time delivery - Set up standard and automated re-order and just-in-time delivery procedures - Build crisis management and backup supplier plans with Strategic Procurement - Facilitate the S&OP process and guide strategic production planning, balancing short- and long-term demand with materials availability - Recommend in-house manufacturing vs. outsourcing based on capacity, quality, and workforce balance - Manage special order requests, engineering changes, and part substitutions - Coach, mentor, and develop your team while driving a culture of accountability and results Requirements: - 10+ years of experience in materials management - 5+ years of management experience - ERP experience (SAP preferred) - Bachelor's degree Preferences: - Lean Six Sigma knowledge or exposure - Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
