About the role
- Analyze retirement plan documents to assess design features, compliance requirements, and regulatory alignment
- Translate business and client requirements into customized, compliant prototype plan documents
- Draft, maintain, and update plan documents including 401(k), profit sharing, and money purchase plans
- Perform protected benefits reviews to preserve participant rights during plan changes and conversions
- Identify inconsistencies, gaps, and risks across plan documents and recommend effective solutions
- Ensure all documents align with current IRS, ERISA, and applicable regulatory guidance
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, compliance, operations, and client-facing teams
- Support development of plan design documentation and implementation materials
- Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, regulated environment
- Contribute to process improvements, quality standards, and documentation best practices
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong knowledge of defined contribution retirement plans and plan document structures
- Working knowledge of ERISA, IRS qualification rules, and regulatory compliance standards
- Experience analyzing plan documents, including amendments, restatements, and conversions
- Ability to interpret complex legal and technical information with high attention to detail
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured documentation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across teams
- QKA (Qualified 401(k) Administrator) certification or advanced credential such as QKC or ERPAExperience with plan mergers, conversions, and protected benefits analysis
- Familiarity with plan document systems such as Relius or similar platforms
- Experience maintaining plan document libraries or prototype language databases
- Exposure to document quality assurance processes and discrepancy resolution
