Business Specialist
Position Summary:
The Business Specialist is responsible for delivering financial, operational, and productivity analytics that support multiple departments. This role develops recurring and ad hoc reporting, analyzes key performance metrics, and provides actionable insights on billings, collections, inventory, staffing, utilization, and profitability trends.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and distribute recurring analytic reports.
Analyze financial and operational metrics including billings, collections, realization, inventory, productivity, utilization, discounts, and write-offs.
Develop written analyses and executive summaries that highlight business trends, performance drivers, and strategic opportunities.
Respond to requests by producing customized reports, data analyses, and business intelligence solutions.
Maintain and enhance reporting tools, templates, databases, and visualizations to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
Perform detailed quality control reviews to validate data integrity and ensure accuracy of reports and presentations.
Collaborate with finance teams to support strategic and operational initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience in analytics, finance, business intelligence, reporting, or a related analytical function preferred.
Experience within a law firm or other professional services environment preferred.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex reporting and data analysis.
Experience working with reporting tools, business intelligence platforms, and enterprise databases.
Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to manage large data sets and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
